Life Recovery Group

Life Recovery at Crossroads Church

We believe everyone can benefit from a Life Recovery experience because we all have struggles. Some struggle with addictions, others with overeating, depression, anxiety, or people-pleasing. We all enter this life with baggage, or we accumulate bad habits or dysfunctional behavior along the way. We all need help at times.

Life Recovery at Crossroads is committed to providing a Christ-centered recovery experience in an informal and friendly setting. We use the Recovery materials from New Life Ministries, a recognized association of Christian counselors started by Pastors and Counselors Steven Arterburn and David Stoop.

What to Expect at Our Meetings
Our meetings include an open mixed group where we teach and share together. We follow the 12 Steps of Christian Recovery-adapted from the 12 Steps of AA-and end this portion with prayer. Afterwards, we break into gender-specific groups for additional sharing. No one is obligated to stay for the second group.
For those who desire, we also offer a private 12-step experience with one of our leaders in an informal, one-to-one, gender-specific setting.

Group Guidelines
Every meeting, we remind ourselves of some basic group guidelines:
  • Our meetings remain anonymous. Everything said, and who you see, remains confidential.
  • Everyone is invited to share, but no one is obligated to do so.
  • We ask that no one person dominates the sharing, so everyone has a chance.
  • We strive to protect our meetings from disruptive behavior, graphic descriptions, or foul language.
  • We are not professionals and there is no fee. Our leaders have been through the program and have benefitted personally.

Our Approach
We freely refer to our higher power as God or Jesus, but we also respect each person’s individual understanding. We are not here to debate theology or beliefs about the Bible, but to work together as a group with loving acceptance of all persons and their perspectives.
